Everyone, young or old, cancer needs to be stopped!
To all the young & old who have or are suffering from cancer, this is for you. Hope is all I can provide however I do it willingly.
My Story
Hi,
Once again this October, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer for the 11th time!
My goal is to pedal 1540 km throughout October & to raise more than $4411 to bring my total to $36,000 during my 11 years.
Over past 10 years I have raised $31,589 & ridden 14,652km for this cause.
Cancer is the largest killer of children from disease in Australia - over 700 children are diagnosed with cancer every year & over 3 die each week.
To show my support, I am taking on this 30-day challenge to support cancer research & give these kids the brighter futures they deserve.
As usual it will be a tough month as it also includes running a 10km race at McLaren Vale on the 18th, as well as the weekly 5km parkrun, however that's nothing compared to what these brave kids face every day.

All funds raised will support Children's Medical Research Institute in their work to develop treatments & finding a cure for ALL childhood cancers & even adult ones.

3 weeks down, 1 & a bit to go
24 Oct 2026A full mixture of weather this week as well as a ride range of sights, wriggling sticks, angry muma ducks, ducklings, Swan's, signets, dogs running, dogs in trailers, dogs in backpack, rabbit loose in the backstreet, lots of kids with parents & great to see family group's out riding or walking.
I'm tired, sore & determined to complete the km & the $'s so if you've not donated yet please do so if you can. 🤗

Halfway through the month
15 Oct 2026We are now halfway through the month's challenge & have experienced all the different weather that mother nature could throw at us. Last Thursday's mid 30's with hot winds to the next day with rain & a top of 13. When the rain hit I was about 15km from home & seeing as I wasn't going to get any wetter I continued on & completed the 70km ride that I'd planned. The only constant has been the wind, e v e r y day.
The good news is that nationally we have now raised over $2M as of this morning! Your help has been awesome, thank you very much. Your donations through me are now at $5053 (79%), of the $6411 target, awesome! I thank everyone of you for getting behind me & this great cause.
We still have a long way to go, me another 794km & a 10km running race this weekend at Mclaren Vale.
Further donations of $1358 to reach target of $6411.
Cancer sucks so lets kick it's butt.
It's for the kids however all sufferers will benefit.
