My Story
This October, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer!
Because cancer is the largest single killer of children from disease in Australia. Right now, 90 children are diagnosed every month, and sadly, 3 die every week.
Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.
And so I am riding and raising funds to support the Children's Medical Research Institute to continue their work into the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and finding a cure for childhood cancer.
Please support my challenge by making a donation through my fundraising page to give these kids the brighter futures they deserve.
Together, we can save little lives.
Thanks for your support.

Day 22: Sculptures By The Sea Ride
22 Oct 2026Every October, the coastline between Sydney beaches of Bondi and Tamarama host the Sculptures By The Sea, a triumphant outdoor exhibition showing off exquisite sculptural art adjacent to the dazzling beauty of nature. It's quite a visual feast, and often includes a number of pieces that raise awareness of various issues in our world, which cause the observer to reflect and think over the message a number of times. You get to take in a fresh coastline track with stunning ocean views, and around every corner is another intriguing artist's creation that either challenges our views, pokes fun at our beliefs and institutions, or feeds our thirst for aesthetic beauty.

Halfway Progress!
18 Oct 2026Hello everyone, just sharing an update on the total distance travelled so far! Out of my giant goal of riding 500 kilometres in October, so far I have ridden 341.9 km! It seems like such a giant quantity... can I make it to the finish line? Can my body (and the bike!) survive the trauma of enduring that enormous distance? Will I get a flat tyre at Oodnadatta? Will I be stopped by Police for being a boofhead? Tune in for the ongoing drama!

Day 17: Art Gallery Ride
17 Oct 2026The Art Gallery of NSW is a grand old sandstone building filled with national treasures. I will admit that I do like a bit of a stroll among the artworks. Life without art, beauty, creativity and human connection is too drudgerous to bear.

Day 14: Bowling Club Ride
15 Oct 2026Lawn Bowling is a traditional sport in Australia which still persists to this day, but the venues are sometimes partially converted into beer gardens. An afternoon at a bowling club in the Australian summer is a time to remember. Your bare feet on the perfectly clipped green grass, a cold beverage, heavy rolling ovoids, laughter and a golden sunset. It's a great day out!

Day 12: Grumpy Donut Ride
12 Oct 2026Just doing a light recovery ride today after yesterday's 74 kilometres. When you're burning huge amounts of calories, you can treat yourself to a high-calorie dessert. :-) "Grumpy Donuts" is an artisanal donut vendor that has nothing to do with grumpiness as far as I can tell. The donuts are delicious, the people who work there are always cheery, and when you bring your loved ones a box of Grumpy Donuts, you will get an opposite-of-grumpy reaction!

Day 11: Botany Bay Ride
11 Oct 2026One of the best rides in Sydney (in my opinion) is the Cooks River ride to Botany Bay. You roll along under sun-dappled forest canopies, alongside mangroves and luscious green parkland, then suddenly pop out at Botany Bay, between the top of Brighton Beach and the airport. My friend of many years "Beet" came along for the ride. We rolled that far and then thought to ourselves "Why not continue out to Kurnell?" We had a fantastic seafood lunch at Kurnell beach, and realised at that half-way point, we had already covered 32km (and needed to do it all again to get home). So, we covered a lot more ground than intended. Beet was a trooper in making it all the way and never complaining! What a fantastic day out!
